Delthen is a councilmember at Miklagard. He is known for his bad temper and has been a part of some very shady dealings. He's a skilled mage and well-known among the dragon riders.

Description

Delthen is man in his middle years. He has a round belly and a short, dark beard. His robes are heavy, with gold embroidery on the collar.

Personality

Delthen tries to carry himself in a dignified manner, but he has a volatile temper. When he meets Sela for the first time, he behaves in a flattering manner and puts on diplomatic airs. When dealing with anyone of a lower status, he gains a rather sharp tongue. He's also very deceitful and underhanded, involving himself in double-crossing ploys and associating with powerful but corrupt people like Druknor Theoric.

History

A long-time council member, Delthen was known for his ill-tempered personality among many of the dragon riders. In Kathir's Redemption, he was the reason Kathir was sent to act as Skemtun's bodyguard and spy. He paid Kathir for his mercenary work and changed the terms of the job as it suited his purposes, becoming hostile and angry with Kathir when he chose not to comply. He was also in league with Druknor, hoping to use his influence to make Bolrakei the leader of the dwarf clans. He frequently threatened Kathir, tried to discredit him, and spoke down to him. Despite that, he was part of the group that invaded the occupied Mount Velik to make the mountain erupt and kill the orc horde.

In The Shadow Grid Returns, he is a driving force behind the reconstruction of Aonach Tower, wanting to build a legacy for himself as the benefactor for providing training to low-level mages. He also has a very strained relation with the re-emerging Shadow Grid, with whom there is a deep mutual animosity.
